More Aerial Forest Health Surveys

A number of readers have asked for more information regarding the aerial forest health surveys being conducted throughout Colorado. I have therefore asked Bill Ciesla with Forest Health Management International if he would be kind enough to supply us with his preliminary reports. He responded as follows:

Wes:
Good talking to you this morning.

As requested, I am attaching all of the weekly reports I prepared for the 2011 aerial forest health survey.  I have also attached a map showing the areas I covered during this year's survey.  As you can see, I covered about 40% of the state. I do the survey under contract to the Colorado State Forest Service.  A summary of forest insect and disease conditions for the entire state will be available in the forthcoming Colorado Forest Health Report for 2011, published by the Colorado State Forest Service and should be available early in 2012.

As we discussed, feel free to use the information in these reports as you see fit.  If you summarize this information in your Tree Farmer's newsletter, i would love to have a copy.

Again, good talking to you and all the best with your work.

Regards, Bill

Below are links to each of Bill’s reports and his map identifying the areas covered.

Many thanks to Bill for giving private forest landowners a preview of his findings.
